About word families
A word family is a set of related words that share a core meaning but change shape for different jobs in a sentence—often as a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb. Noticing prefixes, suffixes, and small spelling shifts helps you recognize them in reading. When you learn a new item, listing a few related forms next to it makes review faster. If a form looks strange, comparing it with a word you already know can narrow down the meaning.
